Bled Strategic Forum is a major global conference held in Slovenia every August, this year’s forum being the 5th such event. The conference was attended by leading policy makers from 40 countries from the European Union, the BRIC countries, Middle East and CIS.
If the international community needs to entirely and effectively face the numerous challenges and problems of the upcoming decade (financial and economic crisis, poverty, climate change, development questions, international terrorism, proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, international terrorism, etc.), global cooperation needs to be strengthened, and the existing institutions need to either adapt to the new situations in the world, or new ones have to be created; was the key message of the main panel titled “The Global Outlook for the Next Decade” at this year’s Bled Strategic Forum. The speakers of the panel, moderated by the Slovenian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Samuel Žbogar, were H.E. Mr. Yves Leterme, Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Belgium and the President of the Council of the EU, H.E. Mr. Amre Moussa, Secretary General of the League of the Arab States, H.E. Ms. Preenet Kaur, Minister of State for External Affairs of the Republic of India, and Ambassador Antonio Patriota, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Federal Republic of Brazil.

Suzanne Hill Honorary Consul for Slovenia in Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland’s newly appointed Honorary Consul for Slovenia, Suzanne Hill, is set to attend a global political conference, Bled Strategic Forum 2010 in Slovenia from the 29th – 30th August. The event is organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Slovenia and the Centre for European Perspective. The theme for the two day event is ‘The Global Outlook for the Next Decade’.
With high ranking representatives from the BRIC countries – Brazil, Russia, India and China in attendance, panel discussions will explore the factors that are contributing to these countries’ significant economic growth. Their experience will be augmented with insight from individuals linked to the League of Arab states, Canada, and the European Union. Former US Secretary of State Colin L. Powell will give the keynote address at the Forum’s opening dinner.

Take advantage of construction sector opportunities in Poland

The initiative is funded by Invest NI The initiative is designed to give companies fast-track access to business contacts and opportunities in the Polish market and includes a market visit which will take place from the 26th – 30th October 2009. The initiative provides an excellent opportunity for companies to meet with potential customers and decision makers in their individual product or service sector. Poland is the only market in the EU which has not gone into recession and still maintains a rate of 1% growth.
